Is iJoomla News Portal available for Joomla 2.5?

iJoomla News Portal will not be converted to Joomla 2.5, instead, we are working on a new extension to replace both iJoomla News Portal and iJoomla Magazine. The name of the new extension is iJoomla Publisher and we hope to have it available before August 2012.

How long is the license good for?

We offer 2 types of subscription plans:

  • 1 year subscription - You get support and access to upgrades for one year. Once the year is over, you will be able to renew your subscription for 40% off.
  • For life - You get support and upgrades for life! If you buy this plan, you will never have to re-purchase this product again

Note: For both plans, the support is for the registered domain only, but you can install the extension on any domain.

What is iJoomla News Portal?

iJoomla News Portal turns your existing sections, categories and articles into a live news portal. Within minutes, you'll have a site similar to CNN's!

I don't get it, why can't I just use Joomla, why do I need this news portal?

Joomla is great but is limited with what you can do with it. You can keep using core Joomla to display your news and it will still look a tad boring and more like a blog than CNN.

With our component you can have a truly dynamic news pages and with a complete style and layout control.

What's the difference between iJoomla Magazine and iJoomla News Portal?

We get a lot of messages about iJoomla Magazine and the iJoomla News Portal. Some publishers are struggling to decide which component suits their site best.

These are two very different components that do very different things. It's important to make the right choice.

What do I need before I buy?

First, you will need a Joomla site, and permission to install components. If you're not sure you have that permission, ask your hosting service. You will also need basic knowledge of Joomla and at least a few content items.

Do I have to re-enter all my content in order to use it on the news portal?

No! iJoomla News Portal allows you to use your existing content. You won't need to re-enter any content. It will also add any new items automatically to your news portal.

Do I get free upgrades?

Yes, for a whole year you will get all the upgrades free. After the year is up, you'd have to renew the license for a discounted fee.

Do I need a special template to use iJoomla News Portal?

No, you can use any template with iJoomla News Portal. If you like the CNN look, you may want to choose a template that has a wide main area, but it's really a matter of preference. You can find a great collection of templates that would work great with iJoomla News Portal here.

Does iJoomla News Portal come with templates?

No, but it will work with any template you use or will use in the future. If you need a great template, take a look at this great list of templates.

How long does it take to create my News Portal?

Assuming you already have different sections and categories as well as content items, all you need to do is to install iJoomla News Portal and create a menu link to it, all your published sections/categories/content items will be displayed. Once you've installed it, you can optionally customize the looks of the different zones as well as the layouts of the 3 pages.

Can I use other components on the same site as iJoomla News Portal?

iJoomla News Portal can be used alongside other components without a problem. We can't guarantee we will be 100% compatible with all the components out there though. If you encounter a problem, please let us know.

Can I control the colors and the looks of different elements on the page?

Yes. Using our Advanced Style Control System, you can easily change fonts, image sizes, borders, colors, etc. No CSS knowledge is required. If you have basic CSS knowledge you will be able to make changes to the CSS file but this knowledge is not necessary.

I'd like to upgrade to the latest version. Will I lose all my information?

No. Upgrading will not lose any of your information. It is safe to uninstall and reinstall the component.

I am just starting with Joomla. Can I still use the iJoomla News Portal component?

Yes. You only need basic Joomla knowledge to use the iJoomla News Portal component. You'll need to know how to install components and modules and how to add images (if you want to), etc.

Can I make changes to the code?

The entire code is not encrypted (starting from May 11th, 2010) and you can modify it as you wish.

What are the terms of use for iJoomla News Portal?

Each purchase grants one domain license for one year. All upgrades and support for that domain are free for a whole year.

Does iJoomla News Portal have JoomFish support?

Yes, iJoomla News Portal has multi-language support using JoomFish.

I don't really need a news site, can I still use it?

Yes! You can use the iJoomla News Portal to display your content item in a more flexible way and with a flow, so that the latest items show on top.   You also get a great flexibilty with layouts, zones and advanced style control.

Do you support other languages for iJoomla News Portal?
